The Company operates in two segments: Inmarsat Global, Inmarsat Solutions and Unallocated. With a fleet of 11 owned and operated geostationary satellites, the Company provides a portfolio of global mobile satellite communications services for use on land, at sea and in the air. It also offers a portfolio of remote telecommunications services to customers, offering services over mobile and fixed satellite systems, at L-band, Ku-band or VSAT, and through its owned and operated microwave and satellite telecommunications facilities. It also provides secure, telecommunication solutions for United States Government operations worldwide.

On January 13, 2012, the Company acquired 100% of NewWave Broadband Limited. In July 2011, it acquired most of the operational assets of Blue Ocean Wireless. On April 28, 2011, it acquired 100% of Ship Equip International AS
