Opérant dans la pêche hauturière et spécialisée dans la commercialisation d’une gamme de poisson essentiellement composée de céphalopodes, Marona écoule ses produits principalement sur les marchés japonais et européen. Dès juin 2007, Marona étend son activité au poisson traité. Ce nouveau procédé consiste à transformer du poisson frais en poisson congelé.

Part of the ONA Group (Omnium Nord-Africain), established in 1919 during Morocco's status as a French protectorate and was initially composed of the Moroccan assets of the French Bank Paribas. ONA Group is a large industrial and financial conglomerate, or holding company.

The company is active in the sectors of banking, insurance, fishing industry, food industry, retailing, tourism, information technology and mining. The Moroccan royal family holds stock in this conglomerate through its holdings in Siger.
