NovaNam Ltd is a meaningful part of the Pescanova Group of companies. Pescanova operates one of the largest fishing fleets in the world and has an excellent track record as a reliable supplier all over the world.
NovaNam is based in Namibia; a country that can boast arguably, to have the world's richest Hake fishing grounds. NovaNam's wet fish and freezer vessels, as well as its factories, are equipped with the latest technology available, achieving maximum yields and quality in harvesting and processing its two primary species: HAKE and ORANGE ROUGHY.
NovaNam's chronicle is a story of faith, passion and commitment. It is very difficult - if not impossible - to relate our first fifteen years in Namibia without a sense of emotion and pride.
Our final decision to invest in Namibia came on the day that Namibia achieved its independence. On recommendation of President Sam Nujoma, a 55.000 m2 plot of land was acquired. Therefore Luderitz, the only Namibian harbour town became our home. (Walvis Bay remained - and for a further four years - under foreign occupation, thus inappropriate for a new business development of such considerable scope). Time proved that Luderitz was the best strategically positioned harbour from the resource point of view.
