Organic Sea Bream, Gutted & Scaled, Ready to Cook

Kefalonia Organic Sea Bream Ready to Cook

  (GREECE, 10/29/2012)

Kefalonia Fisheries was the first aquaculture company in Greece to create a series of organically produced fish. The company is regarded as a world-wide pioneer in the production of Mediterranean Sea Bass and Sea Bream.

The Highest Standard - the Kefalonia Fisheries' organic range - was certified organic to the Naturland Standards -one of the most respected, independent, third-party certification organizations- and was recently certified organic by BIO Hellas Institute. BIO Hellas Institute has been assessed and approved by the Hellenic Ministry of Rural Development and Food as an Inspection and Certification body for organic products, with the E.U code GR-BIO-03. The certification is a guarantee that organic standards are implemented at all stages of production with full traceability and quality control.

The packaging design for Kefalonia Fisheries’ new product, from the organic series, “Organic Sea Bream, Gutted & Scaled, Ready to Cook” has lately won the Gold Pentaward 2012, in the Food-Fish, Meat, and Poultry category. The packaging was designed by Kefalonia’s creative collaborators Mousegraphics. Kefalonia also offers "Organic Sea Bass, Gutted & Scaled, Ready to Cook” in the same range of products.

The new products offer a fresh, clean and ready to be consumed fish that does not require but the simple act of cooking it, with all the fine herbs which will bring forward its basic nutritious qualities. A differentiating band, on an otherwise transparent packaging, offers much more than the image of a serving suggestion. It works like an x-ray image of a pure product of Greek nature, as well as a preview of the particular culinary experience, the moment just -before-eating, when a fish is opened and all fine smells and juices are liberated.

About Kefalonia Fisheries S.A.

Kefalonia Fisheries S.A. is located on the island of Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, between Italy and Greece.

The clear and deep waters of the Bay of Livadi provide an ideal environment for the culture of Mediterranean Sea Bass and Sea Bream. Today Kefalonia produces the finest Mediterranean sea bass in Europe.

Kefalonia Fisheries was founded in 1981 by Marinos Yeroulanos, a fourth generation Kefalonian. His aim was to find a way to safeguard the traditional way of life of the fishermen of the island through aquaculture.

Kefalonia Fisheries was the first farm established for the production of Mediterranean Sea Bass (Disentrarchus labrax) and Sea Bream (Sparus auratus) in Europe and is regarded as a world-wide pioneer in the production of these species.

Kefalonia Fisheries’ fish are raised in the deep, crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea, with a minimum of handling or interference. They are hatched on the company’s farm from brood stock especially selected for its taste and quality.

Today Kefalonia Fisheries produces and sells 8 million fry and over 3000 tons of first quality Bass and Bream per year including Bass of more than 1 kilo with annual sales of over 20 million euros per year.
