Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila Receives BAP Certification

  (ECUADOR, 11/24/2016)

Tropical Aquaculture Products has announced that its partner tilapia producer, Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila S.A. (IPSP) received its first star in Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) for its tilapia farm.

While IPSP's founders have always pursued a vision in which care for the environment, workers, and surrounding communities is held to high standards, a BAP star certifies their efforts and provides third-party recognition of their sought-after accomplishments. BAP certification also gives consumers the confidence they need when they make a purchase, and IPSP certainly provides products that consumers can trust.

IPSP uses a unique farming technique.

IPSP is the only producer that provides saltwater tilapia; they are raised in ponds infused with fresh water from the mountains and salt water from the sea. As a result of this unique farming technique, the tilapia fillet has a sweet, succulent taste, a signature characteristic. No hormones or antibiotics are given to the fish, so they are as natural as they would be in the wild.

IPSP breeds, processes and exports directly its tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus) fresh and frozen.

IPSP prides itself in making sure that its procedures do not harm the environment. In order to do this, the farm implements sophisticated recirculation systems to assure that no water goes to waste. The ponds use polyculture in which both tilapia and shrimp live harmoniously in the same environment. This helps to make better use of the land and create a more natural environment for the tilapia.

IPSP is the only producer that provides saltwater tilapia.

In addition to the BAP certification, IPSP also has its farm and hatchery certified by the Institute for Marketecology (IMO), which pays special attention to the certification and quality control of its products.

It also verifies aquaculture facilities in accordance with Whole Foods Market Quality Standards for Farmed Seafood.

IPSP's sophisticated pond system makes it easy to have tilapia available 365 days a year. This ensures you, as a consumer, can have the freshest tilapia available on any given day.
