Dog Owners Can Choose MSC With Two New Petcurean GATHER Formulas

  (CANADA, 12/1/2016)

Dog lovers with exacting standards now have a new choice in sustainability with two new GATHER dog food formulas featuring Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified seafood.

Petcurean is the newest MSC partner in North America committed to using only natural ingredients from certified, sustainable and organic sources for its premium line of GATHER pet foods.

Petcurean dog products: GATHER, NOW FRESH, GO!, SPIKE and SUMMIT.

After carefully considering the farmers, growers and fishers that produce the hand-selected ingredients that go into GATHER recipes, Petcurean chose MSC certified fisheries for the care and integrity behind their sustainable practices, and the transparency and traceability offered by the MSC program. Cod and krill from MSC certified fisheries can be found in the following formulas:

GATHER Wild Ocean: The single source fish protein in Wild Ocean is line-caught cod from Alaska, certified to meet the globally recognized MSC Standard for a sustainable, well managed fishery. Cod is blended with MSC certified krill, peas, lentils, chickpeas, organic flaxseed and other essential ingredients to provide a hearty, healthy meal for adult dogs.

GATHER Free Acres: In addition to sustainable, certified organic, free-run chicken, the Free Acres formula also includes MSC certified krill along with other wholesome ingredients such as organic peas, lentils, organic flaxseed, blueberries and cranberries to provide dogs with extra nutrition.

Petcurean cat products: GATHER, NOW FRESH, GO! and SUMMIT.

“We know consumers are increasingly demanding sustainability, transparency and organic ingredients in their pet food, which is why we created GATHER to proactively meet that demand,” says Rick van Schagen, President at Petcurean. “As a company, we took our time to find the right partners who aligned with our own commitment to responsibility and accountability; and we are delighted that the MSC program exceeds this high standard”.

Jay Lugar, Program Director for MSC Canada adds: “When it comes to making ocean friendly choices, pet food isn’t always top of mind for consumers, even though it’s a category that often includes seafood products. By partnering with MSC, Petcurean is giving dog owners the choice to directly support fisheries and fishermen who care about the environment and protecting the stocks they fish for future generations.”

GATHER is available at pet specialty stores in the U.S. and Canada.
