The Chilean mussel is a unique, 100% natural and high quality product.

Patagonia Mussel Featured their Prestigious Shellfish for the First Time at Seafood Expo North America

  (CHILE, 3/22/2017)

Patagonia Mussel and the four companies that make up this entity (Orizon, St. Andrews, SudMaris and Toralla) showcased their products – unique, natural and of the highest quality and nutritional value – at Seafood Expo North America for the first time ever.

The cold and clean waters of Chilean Patagonia provide an ideal environment for the Patagonia Mussels, which are recognized internationally for their taste and texture. Mussels of Patagonia are not only 100% natural, but also rich in protein, vitamins and Omega 3.

Chilean mussels are grown under strict environmental controls, in a protected and unpolluted ecosystem.

“Mussels of Patagonia have become a prestigious representative of the best of what Chile has to offer. The pure nature from where they are cultivated is combined with high-tech harvesting methods to create a product of the highest standard,” stated Mauricio Banchieri, Trade Commissioner, ProChile New York.

The price of the Chilean Mussel is lower than the fresh Canadian product and is much more competitive in price/quality. This is the reason why Chilean Mussel has been increasing its market share explosively in recent years in Europe and Asia.

“Patagonian mussels are bred under strict environmental controls to ensure quality that impresses even the most demanding palates,”

The cold and clean waters of Chilean Patagonia provide an ideal environment for the Patagonia Mussels.

Patagonia Mussel collaborates with ProChile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and AMI Chile, the Chilean Association of Producers and Exporters of Mussel, with the mission of promoting Chilean mussels in the US market, the main destination of Chilean seafood exports.

The industrial plants where the mussels are harvested and packed in the cultivation centers are located in Chiloé and near Puerto Montt.

About Patagonia Mussel

Patagonia Mussel is joint venture between AMI Chile -the Chilean Association of Producers and Exporters of Mussels- and ProChile launched in 2012 with the purpose of promoting the attributes and competitive advantages of Chilean mussels in international markets and increase the exports of this product, which has become a prestigious representative of the best of Chilean seafood.

The Chilean mussel is a Premium product for the most demanding palates and recommended by renowned chefs because of its flavour, color, texture and size. The mussel definitely represents the best of Chilean seafood.

Patagonia Mussel is a project created to give a unique and distinctive identity to the product, based on its main attributes: its natural breeding in the cold and clean waters of Chilean Patagonia, its superb taste, quality and texture, and its nutritional value and culinary versatility, which has attracted the attention of renowned chefs all over the world.

To achieve this goal, the brand Patagonia Mussel was created, bringing the main mussel exporters in the country, together. The creation of this brand also seeks to give a unique and distinctive identity to the product, based on its main attributes: its natural breeding in the cold and clean waters of Chilean Patagonia in the Pacific ocean, its superb taste, quality and texture, and its nutritional value and culinary versatility, which has attracted the attention of renowned chefs all over the world.

Patagonia Mussel is a country sub-brand that has become a distinctive hallmark of food quality and safety standards of this product, for importers, distributors, retailers and final consumers that have been enjoying the quality and incomparable flavor of the Chilean mussel.

The Patagonia Mussel Project was initially launched in Russia, in the year 2012. It was then implemented in Brazil, in the beginning of 2014, later in China -starting in 2015- and is currently being developed on the west coast of the USA.

Currently, Chilean mussel exporters that participate in the Patagonia Mussel project in the USA and China, are: Orizon, St. Andrews, SudMaris and Toralla.
