Representatives of the Multi-Union of Workers of Salmon, Allied Branches and Fisheries (MTSP) met with executives of AquaChile to inform them of the changes in the administration in view of the purchase offer submitted by Agrosuper.
The MTSP delegates in the Los Lagos region spoke with the current president of AquaChile, Víctor Hugo Puchi, and general manager Agustín Ugalde, about the sale of the company, informed Aqua.
"Given such important news, we, as leaders, must be concerned about our constituents and their job security. That is why we requested an urgent meeting with the top management of the company, who received us and released the details of this commercial movement," said Miriam Chávez, director of the union and president of Union No. 3 of Aguas Claras Calbuco, firm belonging to the holding AquaChile.
Chávez said that one of the issues addressed at the meeting was the leaders' concern about the possible departure of Victor Hugo Puchi from the salmon farming industry, given that he is a leader who has always listened to the demands of the sector, even "during difficult times when neither SalmonChile nor the authorities did."
Regarding the uncertainty as to job stability, the representative of MTSP expressed her hope that the new administration "will maintain the standards and the level of dialogue and coexistence that workers of the AquaChile holding company have today".
She also said that the "solvency and importance of Agrosuper" reassures them, and that they hope "to keep the channels of dialogue quick and fluent with the new company to continue improving the working conditions of all workers".
