The Ministry of Production (Produce) has established the catch limits of horse mackerel (Trachurus murphyi) and mackerel (Scomber japonicus peruanus) that will govern the extractive activities carried out by all types of fleet during 2018.
For the horse mackerek fishery a maximum catch of 75,000 tonnes was set and for mackerel, of 110,000 tonnes.
These quotas may be modified depending on the estimated biological and / or environmental factors, if the Institute of the Sea of Peru (Imarpe) evidences a greater availability of resources horse mackerel and mackerel.
For this, the Imarpe must send the recommendation with the corresponding measures to the Ministry of Production.
Once the capture limit of the mentioned resources has been reached, the Ministry of Production, through a ministerial resolution, will close the extractive activities. Otherwise, the fishing activities of horse mackerel and mackerel will conclude on December 31, 2018.
Shipowners or fishing companies must allow boarding and facilities for the Imarpe scientific research staff or inspectors on board the Ministry of Production, when these institutions so require.
