In order to strengthen their fishing activities, more than 250 fishermen engaged in fishing for giant squid met with the authorities of the Regional Production Management (Lambayeque) to get formalized.
The Working Group met in the facilities of the Maritime Union Association of Fishermen of San José district and was attended by the Regional Manager of this sector, Juan Pablo Santamaria Baldera, Cesar Mogollon, Director of Capture, Processing and Fishing Control and representatives of PRODUCE.
The fishermen showed their desire to associate in order to have capture permits and to be part of the work meetings with other sectors, which allow for a continuous growth in compliance with legal provisions N° 409-2017 of PRODUCE.
"Our desire is that the fishermen will be trained and can form cooperatives so that they work without major problems", expressed the regional manager of Production.
From this first meeting, the men from the sea engaged in this sector will be called permanently to help them to improve their daily work.
