Congalsa joins GSSI global platform

  (SPAIN, 4/24/2018)

Congalsa announced that it has joined the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) as a founding member in order to continue promoting its commitment to sustainability.

The company explained that this project constitutes the ideal space to advance in the knowledge of the certification programs of fishery products, given that GSSI provides a global framework for the certification of fishery products according to FAO guidelines.

“We welcome Congalsa as the newest addition to the GSSI Partnership. Congalsa reinforces Spain’s representation in GSSI’s Global Partnership, strengthening GSSI’s global non-competitive effort in ensuring clarity, confidence and choice in seafood certification,” said Herman Wisse, Managing Director, GSSI.

“The essence of our company is linked to the conservation and good management of our natural resources,” said Julio Simarro, Sales & Marketing Director, Congalsa.

“For this reason, ensuring the sustainability of our natural resources has become an absolute priority for Congalsa. Sharing knowledge and expertise on certified sustainable sourcing, provides the seafood supply chain with a powerful tool to spread good practices and clarity within the market," he added.

Congalsa was founded in the 1990s and specializes in the production of frozen precooked products and doughs, aimed at the feed and retail sector.

GSSI global sustainable fishing platform is a network of NGOs, experts and governmental and intergovernmental organizations, committed to working together towards more sustainable seafood.
