Every year 300,000 tonnes of this wild-caught fish are caught off the coast of Norway, which since 2018 began to be exported to Spain with good results. This year, with the aim of popularizing its consumption in Spain, the Norwegian Seafood Council has launched, since September, a promotional campaign to which more than 2,000 points of sale have been added, among fishmongers traditional and food distribution chains.

A powerful swimmer against the current
The Norwegian saithe is distinguished from other species by the line in the skin that runs longitudinally on both loins. It is a fish that swims against the current in the waters of Norway, just north of the Arctic Circle, where the strongest tidal current on the planet is found: the eddies of the Strait of Saltstraumen, so it develops powerful muscles. The Norwegian saithe is especially rich in protein, vitamins D and B12 and also provides selenium and iodine, essential for a proper functioning of the metabolism.
