The Business Association of Marine Aquaculture Producers (Apromar) has asked the Aquaculture Technology Centre of Andalusia (Ctaqua) to conduct a study on Spanish croaker (Argyrosomus regius), with the aim of developing proposals that encourage consumption.
The research 'aims to promote the consumption of croaker and will run for four months with financial support from Apromar and the Regulation and Organization of Marketing Fisheries and Mariculture Product Fund (FROM).
Researchers will be engaged in the study of production, market potential and consumer perception of this species with optimum organoleptic and growth conditions.
While croaker is a potential resource for aquaculture, consumers do not consume it in large quantities because it is widely unknown, reports the Europa Press.
When researchers complete the study, Apromar and Ctaqua will present several recommendations and proposals to the sector.
Thus, both entities intend to help make strategic decisions about the cultivation of croaker.
