Calvo focuses its future business in Brazil, China, India and Russia

Calvo Group unveiled a new international strategy: to conquer the four BRIC emerging markets, comprising Brazil, Russia, India and China.
While the firm has already entered the Chinese market, its management plans to expand its presence in the Asian country.
In addition, the company operates in Italy, Argentina and several Central American countries.
From 2008 to 2011, Calvo entered 27 new markets, managing to be present in 70 countries spread over five continents, and increasing its sales volume to 75 per cent, according to Javier Lazcoz, CEO of the food company.
With regard to the results of 2011, the executive said, "It was a good exercise". In 2010 the Group turnover was EUR 492.1 million.
He stressed that the company is gaining market share in Spain, thanks to a strategy focused on quality, innovation and geographic diversification, Europa Press agency informed.
The Group expressed its commitment to the Galician Mussel Protected designation of origin (PDO) and recently associated with Deoleo to launch the marketing of light tuna in Carbonell olive oil, a new 'premium' quality product.
This new commitment in the canning sector will allow Calvo company to strengthen its quality brand image and enhance its innovative line, providing "added value" to consumers.
In the past year, the tuna in olive oil segment grew by 7 per cent and has a share of 32 per cent in the category.
In Brazil, Calvo is conducting a 'co-branding' with products of its subsidiary, cannery Gomes da Costa.
"We are open to new collaboration possibilities", Lazcoz added.
Calvo has a market share of 14 per cent in Spain with light tuna in vegetable oil and 8.4 per cent in mussels; while in Brazil it is a leader with a quota of 46 per cent of tuna and 39 per cent of sardine sales.
The Spanish company employs 3,100 people, has 10 ships and four factories distributed in Galicia (two), El Salvador and Brazil (one in each country), EFE reported.
