Heliae, an Arizona-based algae technology company, has announced a partnership with Evodos to offer its proprietary Spiral Plate Technology to North America.
"Our goal has been to create a commercially-viable platform for algae production, from strain to product. Harvesting is a critical step, and we've worked with Evodos for two years, testing its systems and offering feedback on performance," stated Dan Simon, president and CEO of Heliae.
"Evodos' technology offers a flexible and effective harvesting solution for most algae strains we've worked with. We are happy to formally work with Evodos to promote its technology."
The Evodos technology is applicable to many markets, but its initial focus has been on the algae industry. Its gentle harvesting process delivers a dewatered live algae paste that is over 98 per cent free of extracellular water and extremely stable for product development.
The economics of the Evodos technology make it a clear winner for algae production facilities worldwide.
Marco Brocken, CEO of Evodos, says, "Heliae is an ideal distribution partner for our technology. As one of the top algae companies worldwide, it offers both the opportunity to expand into new markets and the ability to get direct feedback on the Evodos technology.
“Because Heliae has scaled its operations, it has critical insight into how our technology fits into a larger algae production facility."
With this deal in place, Heliae has a license to distribute the Evodos technology with a focus on the North American markets. Heliae will be including Evodos harvesting technology in its new commercial facility scheduled for completion in Q3 2013, but will begin distribution for Evodos immediately.
