PRODUCE authorizes reopening of hake fishery

The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced the end of the closed season during the hake (Merluccius gayi peruanus) breeding period and authorized the restart of the extractive activities of the said resource, in the maritime area between 04 ° 00'S and 07 ° 00'S Peruvian maritime domain, as of October 20.
Through Ministerial Resolution 438-2019-PRODUCE, published in the official newspaper El Peruano, it was informed that hake processing can be carried out only in processing plants that have a current operating license for direct human consumption, whose owners have signed a Faithful and Full Agreement Compliance with the provisions contained in Ministerial Resolution No. 290-2019.
Likewise, the IMARPE will carry out the monitoring and follow-up of the main biological, population and fishery indicators of the resource, and must inform and recommend timely the fishery management measures. It will also prioritize monitoring actions on the incidence of specimens in sizes smaller than 28 cm.
The monitoring, control and surveillance of vessels will be carried out on the basis of reports from the satellite tracking system for fishing vessels (Sisesat), without prejudice to the work performed by the inspectors of the General Directorate of Supervision, Supervision and Sanction of the Office Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Production, and the competent Regional Directorates of Production.
