- This year a catch limit of 138,000 tonnes was established, applicable for all types of fleet
- Until November 4, the total landings of jack mackerel reached 136,839 tons, which represents 99.2% of the allocated quota
The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) reported that the extractive activities of the jack mackerel resource (Trachurus murphyi) for the artisanal fleet will begin as of 00:00 hours on November 13, 2019.
Through Ministerial Resolution 479-2019-PRODUCE, published in the newspaper El Peruano, the ministry indicated that the storage, marketing and transport of jack mackerel must have indubitable documentation and a certain date that demonstrates that the said resource has been extracted before of the referred day.
The Ministry explained that the General Directorate of Supervision, Supervision and Sanction of Produce indicated that, according to the monitoring of jack mackerel landings, it was observed that as of November 4 the total discharge of the resource reached 136,839 tons, which represents 99.2% of the quota.
In that regard, the agency recommended that within the scope of his powers the corresponding measures be taken in order to prevent jack mackerel catches from exceeding the maximum catch limit established for the year 2019.
