The automation of the labeling of fishery products reduces by 98% the errors of non-compliance with the complex regulations of this sector
The automation of the labeling process for fishery products allows a 98% reduction in errors when complying with the complex and varied regulations that regulate the activity of this sector in this field. In fact, and according to data from an analysis carried out by Toshiba Tec in Spain along the value chain of the fishing and aquaculture sector, the average rate of incorrect labeling currently affects approximately 29% of the production in this sector.

This analysis indicates that these labeling errors have a notable impact on lost opportunities in the e-commerce environment, at a time when online sales have come to represent 80% of the total during the weeks of confinement of last spring, according to various employers the fishing sector of our country. According to Toshiba's analysis, this increase in sales through the network has driven the demand for printing systems by the sector to register a growth of 37% during the last semester, compared to the same period of the year previous.
Toshiba also points out the high impact of labeling technologies in certifying the traceability of fishery products, an increasingly important issue due to the need to increase consumer confidence in their safety and to respond to the growing demand for fish from responsible fisheries. In this sense, and according to a study carried out by the consulting firm Deloitte for the European tuna fleet, in the last two years 76% of Spanish consumers claim to have changed their purchasing habits towards responsible fishery products from a social and environmental point of view.

Efficient labeling from sea to plate
To respond to this situation, Toshiba has developed a comprehensive labeling offer that covers all processes, both in the fishing and aquaculture activities, ranging from the labeling of catches to maintenance, cleaning, traceability and analytics and compliance with the regulations on marketing and customization of shipments, in the case of electronic commerce.
This offer includes industrial, desktop and portable software solutions and printing devices that adapt to a multitude of application environments, due to their high resistance to water, low temperatures and drops, as well as for their duration of consumables and high autonomy, with up to 800 meters of printing ribbon.

Toshiba mobile printers
This is the case of the industrial printers of the B-EX4 range suitable for use in cold rooms on board or in processing plants. To ensure a durable and scratch-resistant printing, these devices also allow the use of high-quality printing ribbons, which guarantees traceability throughout the logistics chain. Toshiba also has the B-FP2D and B-FP3D mobile printers for inventory management or product traceability from any location.
Likewise, the company recommends the use of RFID technology labels (radio frequency identification) that allow the data to be read from a distance or without the label being visible, for example, in feed containers, tanks, traps or the rafts. In addition to the automatic control of content or merchandise, this technology makes it possible to increase worker safety or avoid unknown losses.

For its part, the label printing software marketed by Toshiba incorporates a series of functionalities to aid in product traceability. Specifically, it can generate a record of each printed label with operator information, date and time, and printed information, thus facilitating a record of all labeled products.
Finally, to optimize logistics, the company offers double-sided printers for e-commerce DB-EA4D, which allow the shipping data and the delivery note to be included on the same label; and the Form & Label solution, to print all the documentation for an online order - shipping and return labels, delivery note and promotional information - on a single sheet.
