3,600 kilos of hashish seized in a fishing vessel in the south

The Tax Agency has apprehended 3,600 kilos of hashish in a fishing vessel in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), in an operation that has resulted in the arrest of the two crew members of the vessel, reports the Ministry of Finance.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of August 19, began when the Customs Surveillance Airways of the Tax Agency detected a fishing vessel of about 14 meters that did not follow the normal patterns of habitual behavior in fishing tasks.

The corresponding operation was established in which different naval and air customs means participated, initiating a control device that led to the boarding of the ship, at the height of Sanlucar de Barrameda.

The agents observed that they carried a large number of bales in the area where the nets were housed, so that their occupants were arrested and the boat was moved to the port for a thorough recognition.

The two detainees, together with the seized drug and the intervened vessel, were placed at the disposal of the investigating court on duty in Sanlucar de Barrameda.

It is the second apprehension in just 24 hours on the coast of Andalusia, since at dawn on August 20 the aircraft surveillance operation established by Customs detected a semi-rigid vessel sailing without lights that was heading towards the beaches of San Pedro de Alcántara (Malaga).

Activated the control device that has led to the abortion of the stash on the beach, eleven hashish bumps have been learned, weighing approximately 400 kilos, with the boat taking about seven meters in length and a subtracted off-road, with which they intended move the load.

The people in charge of the boat fled thanks to the darkness of the area and follow the open procedures to discover their identity.
